Pune: In an alleged road rage incident in Pune city, a 27-year-old woman, Jeryln Dsilva who is a digital content creator was "brutally" beaten by a car driver here on Baner-Pashan road. The accused driver and a woman who was with him have been arrested, police said.
The incident happened on Saturday afternoon when the victim, who was riding a scooter with two children, alleged that a car driver followed her for 2 kilometres and blocked her way. He then furiously marched towards her, pulled her hair and punched her face twice leaving her with a bleeding nose.
The victim later recorded a video with her bleeding nose detailing the incident and posted it on Instagram, seeking justice and raising concerns about women's safety in the city.
"He got out of the car very furiously. He punched me twice and pulled my hair. I had two kids, he didn't care about them. How safe is this city? Why are people behaving like maniacs? I had two kids with me, kuch bhi ho sakta tha (anything could have happened)... A woman helped me," Ms D'Silva said in the video.
The video went viral on social media. The accused were later arrested under sections 118(1), 74, 115(2), 352, and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Motor Vehicle Act, the police said.
The case has been registered at Chaturshrangi Police Station. Further investigations into the matter are underway.
