Thiruvananthapuram: The family of Prajin Jose (28), a medical student accused of killing his father, has alleged a connection to occult practices. His mother, Sushama Kumari, claimed that he had been exhibiting disturbing behavioural changes, leaving the family in fear.

The victim, Jose (70), was murdered at Charavuvila Bungalow, in the Killiyoor region of Vellarada. He was first attacked while sitting on a sofa in the hall, suffering a deep wound to his neck. As he attempted to escape, Prajin allegedly chased him into the kitchen and inflicted fatal injuries on his neck, head, and chest. The murder took place on February 5 night.

According to family members, Prajin had been leading a secluded life in his second-floor room. He was reportedly distressed over not completing his medical studies in China. Later, he spent Rs 1.5 lakh on a film course in Kochi, after which his behaviour changed. He stopped attending church, frequently locked himself in his room, and refused to let anyone enter.

Prajin would also take his vehicle out late at night, returning after several hours. If questioned, he allegedly resorted to violence, his mother claimed. The family remained unaware of what was happening inside his room.

Disturbing actions before the murder
Days before the crime, Prajin reportedly shaved off all his body hair, including from his head, and piled it in a corner of his room. He also kept black-coloured idols and unusual weapons on his table.

Family members suspect he may have been involved in satanic rituals and have urged police to examine his mobile phones and other possessions. Vellarada police stated that further details could only be uncovered after taking Prajin, currently on remand at Thozhukkal Jail in Neyyattinkara, into custody for questioning.
