Thiruvananthapuram: A man named Sujith Bhaskaran from Vallakkadavu here has been arrested by Kollam Kannanalloor Police based on a sexual harassment complaint filed by a woman doctor. The doctor had earlier been accused in the Vanchiyoor shooting case, where she injured Sujith’s wife Shini by firing an air gun on July 28 last year.

The woman doctor filed the harassment complaint against Sujith after being taken into police custody in connection with the shooting incident.

According to police, Sujith and the woman doctor had worked together in Kollam, during which they developed a close relationship that ultimately ended up in the shooting incident. The doctor went to Sujith’s house under the pretext of delivering a courier and allegedly shot his wife with an air gun.

In her statement, the woman doctor alleged that Sujith had sexually assaulted her using force during the time they worked together. She claimed Sujith had made false promises of marriage and later left for the Maldives. The attack on Sujith’s wife was said to be an act of retaliation for the alleged harassment.

Following the complaint, a case was registered against Sujith by the Vanchiyoor Police in August 2024. His arrest was made amid the ongoing investigation into the case.
