Alappuzha: An employee of Malabar Gold and Diamonds was arrested after gold worth Rs 11,53,570 was stolen from the showroom here. The South police arrested senior sales executive cum appraiser Rajeev, a native of Avalookunnu, Alappuzha. 

He was arrested on the basis of a complaint filed by the showroom head, V V Abdul Salim. The accused has been remanded, and a case has been filed on charges of theft and fraud. 

The FIR alleges that the accused stole small pieces of old gold purchased from customers and replaced them with copper to maintain the weight.
