Thamarassery (Kozhikode): The brutal murder of 52-year-old Kayikkal Subaida, who was killed by her son Muhammad Ashiq (25), has been confirmed to be a gruesome act, with deep wounds on her body. Subaida, who had been abandoned by her husband when their son Muhammad Ashiq was just one and a half years old, raised him by working as a cooking assistant and labourer. And it was the same son, Muhammad Ashiq, who eventually murdered her.
According to the Thamarassery Police inquest report, Subaida had sustained 17 deep wounds from a machete attack. However, the report also suggests that there may have been even more wounds, as the exact number of cuts could not be determined due to the nature of the injuries. The deep and numerous cuts on her neck and head reflect the brutality of the murder.
The CCTV footage from around the house also shows Muhammad Ashiq's actions before and after the crime. The footage includes him going to a neighbour’s house to borrow a machete under the pretext of plucking coconuts, returning with the machete, and later washing the bloodstained weapon at the tap in the yard. The Cyber Cell team has collected these visuals as part of their investigation.
The police have announced that they will file an application at the Thamarassery Judicial First Class Magistrate Court on Wednesday to take the accused into custody for further investigation and evidence collection regarding the murder.
