Panaji: Goa police have filed a fresh FIR against Bengaluru-based tech entrepreneur and under-trial prisoner Suchana Seth for allegedly assaulting a lady police constable inside the Colvale Central Jail. Seth, who is currently facing trial for the alleged murder of her four-year-old son in January 2024, reportedly attacked the constable during a confrontation late on Monday night.
According to police, the incident occurred around 11.30pm on Monday when Seth took the inward register of the women’s prison block without authorisation. When the lady constable, who was on duty, confronted her over the act, Seth allegedly hurled verbal abuse and physically assaulted the officer by kicking her, pulling her hair, and causing bodily harm.
The constable, who was performing her lawful duties, lodged a complaint, following which a First Information Report (FIR) was registered on Tuesday. The case adds to the mounting legal troubles for Seth, who is currently in judicial custody.
Suchana Seth was arrested in January 2024 after she allegedly murdered her son in a Candolim hotel room and attempted to flee to Bengaluru with the child's body hidden in a travel bag. Housekeeping staff at the hotel found bloodstains in the room, triggering the police investigation that led to her arrest en route to Karnataka.
A 640-page chargesheet was later filed by the Goa police before the children’s court, based on the statements of 59 witnesses. Seth, the founder of a data science startup, has remained in custody since her arrest.
