Malappuram: A 23-year-old woman social media influencer was among four people arrested in Malappuram after police allegedly recovered MDMA from a car in which they were travelling, officials said on Thursday.

The accused have been identified as Anss CH (24), a resident of Hajiyarpalli; Shabeer TP (29) of Kadannamanna; Sajad Kunatheri (21) of Oorakam; and Minu Jasmin KP (23) of Koottilangadi.

According to police, the arrests followed a tip-off about suspected drug trafficking in the area. Acting on the information, officers intercepted a car at Kizhakethala late on Wednesday and conducted a search.

Police said they seized a total of 10.15 grams of MDMA from the accused. Of this, 3.25 grams were allegedly recovered from the pocket of one of the suspects, while another 7.25 grams were found inside the vehicle.

Officers also confiscated three syringes, zip-lock plastic packets, a small electronic weighing machine and Rs 24,000 in cash during the operation.

Investigators suspect that the four had arrived in the area to sell the contraband, police said.

Among those arrested, Minu Jasmin is reportedly active on social media, regularly sharing videos on YouTube and Instagram.

All four accused were subsequently produced before a court, which remanded them in judicial custody.
