A chilling case of alleged domestic violence has emerged from Dhanora Tikri village under the Budhana police station limits in Muzaffarnagar district, where an eight-month pregnant woman was allegedly beaten to death by her husband on Saturday night.

The deceased, Kanak alias Kamal, a resident of Parasoli village, was married to Ashish, son of Ravindra, on April 10 this year. Ashish works with a private company in Haridwar. Kanak was in the advanced stage of pregnancy at the time of her death.

Kanak’s mother, Rekha, and brother Ravi told the police that she was subjected to frequent physical abuse by her husband. According to the family, Kanak had repeatedly informed them about the violence, but continued to stay in her marital home.

In a disturbing revelation, Rekha said Kanak recorded a video around 10 pm on Saturday, standing outside her house and arguing with Ashish.

In the video, Kanak allegedly accuses her husband of having an extramarital affair and says that he beats her whenever she raises objections. The video was reportedly sent to her family shortly before her death.

About an hour later, around 11 pm, Kanak was allegedly beaten to death. Alarmed after receiving the video, her family immediately informed the police. When officers reached the spot, Kanak was found dead.

Police took the body into custody and sent it for post-mortem examination. The accused husband, Ashish, has been detained for questioning.

Doughat Police Station in-charge Suryadeep Singh said the woman’s family has accused her in-laws of murder and that an investigation is underway. A formal complaint was yet to be registered by late evening. The post-mortem report and digital evidence, including the video, are expected to play a crucial role in the probe.
