
Pathanamthitta, Kerala: A Plus Two student grabbed a sub-inspector (SI) by the neck and slammed him to the ground when the officer questioned him for loitering at the bus stand. The SI, identified as Jinu from the Pathanamthitta police station, suffered head and hand injuries and was treated at the Pathanamthitta Government General Hospital.
The incident took place on Tuesday evening at the new private bus stand, a frequent site of student violence. The SI, accompanied by another police officer, had arrived following reports that female students were being verbally harassed. While inspecting the area, they noticed the student wandering around. When the SI asked him to go home, the student turned aggressive, questioning the officer’s authority.

As the SI attempted to take him to the station, holding him by the hand and leading him towards the police jeep, the student suddenly attacked from behind. He grabbed the officer by the neck, threw him to the ground, and struck him on the head with a stick. The other policeman rushed to assist, and together they managed to subdue the student and take him into custody.
Even after being placed in the lock-up, the student continued to cause a commotion. Police suspect he may have mental health issues and are investigating further.
