Kozhikode: The investigation in the Pantheerankavu domestic violence case has entered its last phase. The police are likely to submit the charge sheet in the court next week. The cops at the moment are trying to get custody of prime accused Rahul P Gopal, who is reportedly in Germany at the moment.
The police are in constant touch with the German Embassy in this regard. Earlier, the Interpol had issued a Blue Corner notice against Rahul. It is learned that a Red Corner notice as well will be issued soon.
A copy of the charge sheet and a report on absconding Rahul will be handed over to the Interpol via CBI director. Material evidence pertaining to the case will also be presented at the court.
The investigation is being done by a team headed by Feroke Assistant Commissioner Saju K Abraham. On Friday, Rahul’s mother and sister had surrendered in front of the Feroke SI as per the instructions from the court. Their arrest was recorded and then the duo were released on bail. Rahul’s friend P P Rajesh was also arrested in connection with the case earlier. He was granted bail later.
Meanwhile, the hearing on the anticipatory bail plea of K T Sarathlal, the fifth accused in the case, is scheduled for Monday. Sarathal is a senior civil police officer at the Pantheerankavu Police Station. Station Inspector A S Sarin was suspended earlier in the case over laxity in discharging duties.
Rahul and the victim got married on May 5. Within a week, the girl filed a complaint after her parents also came to know about the torture she was subjected to by Rahul and family.
