Kannur: In a shocking incident, a tribal woman has came forward alleging that she was coerced into organ donation by a middleman. The woman filed a complaint against a man named Benny who allegedly promised her Rs 9 lakh in exchange for donating a kidney.

The woman was taken to a private hospital in Ernakulam, claiming that her husband was ill. Thereafter, she was compelled by Benny to donate organs. The woman disclosed that her husband’s kidney was also donated in 2014 through this middleman.

She was also compelled into organ donation by her husband as well. The woman said that she was threatened by her husband and demanded Rs 2 lakh from the compensation she’d receive after kidney donation. The middleman also demanded Rs 1 lakh from her. She had undergone tests for organ donation.

The woman managed to escape the ordeal when Sinoj, an acquaintance, and his friend intervened to assist her.
