Palakkad: Further details have emerged regarding the Nenmara double murder case, where the prime suspect, Chenthamara, was involved in a similar murder back in 2019. It has now been revealed that Chenthamara brutally murdered the wife of Sudhakaran, who was killed in the recent double murder. Sudhakaran’s wife, Sajitha, was the victim in the earlier crime. Chenthamara had separated from his wife, and it was under the suspicion that Sajitha was the one who had caused this separation that Chenthamara targeted her.
The murder of Sajitha was meticulously planned by the accused. At the time of the murder, her husband Sudhakaran was away at work in Tiruppur, and their children were at school. This left Sajitha alone at home, which Chenthamara had realised. After committing the crime, the accused went into hiding.

The Kerala Police used a full range of resources in their investigation, including dog squads, forensic experts, fingerprint specialists, and the cyber cell. The investigation eventually led to clear evidence and testimony from locals, revealing Chenthamara’s involvement in the crime. A search operation was then conducted in the Arakkamala area and surrounding forest regions, where the police suspected the accused was hiding.
In the course of the investigation, locals joined the police in the search efforts. Upon realising the police were closing in, Chenthamara emerged from his hiding spot in the forest, where he was apprehended by the investigating team. Remarkably, Chenthamara had been released on bail and was out on the streets, just as the trial for the murder was due to begin next month.
Chenthamara had previously threatened to kill Sudhakaran and his mother, Lakshmi, and it is believed that these threats were carried out as part of his plans. The manner in which Sajitha was murdered in 2019 was similar to the killings on Monday.
Chenthamara had confessed to the earlier crime, explaining that he had killed Sajitha due to a personal grudge. He believed that she, along with other neighbours, was involved in the breakdown of his relationship with his wife and children. Now, The police are now intensifying their search for Chenthammara, with potential hiding places including the Nilambur forest and areas around the Akkaramala region being thoroughly combed.
