He has been charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The accused will be produced before the Ernakulam First Class Judicial Magistrate's court.
What is the Southern Naval Command saying?
The SNC confirmed the arrest and said the matter is being taken with “utmost seriousness.” The naval provost, responsible for law enforcement and discipline, is monitoring the investigation. The command assured full cooperation with civil authorities to ensure a thorough investigation and a fair legal outcome. The statement also highlighted that further comments are inappropriate while the probe continues.
The case has drawn attention due to the victim’s connection to a security personnel family and the involvement of a naval officer, raising concerns about safety and conduct within defence establishments. SNC emphasised its commitment to upholding high standards of discipline and community safety.
