A man in his 40s has been taken into custody in Telangana’s Nagarkurnool district for allegedly raping and killing his mother-in-law at their residence, police said
Hyderabad: A man was arrested in Nagarkurnool district after he allegedly raped and murdered his mother-in-law on the night of February 8, according to police officials.
The incident occurred in Kalwakurthy mandal when the elderly woman, believed to be in her mid-60s, was alone at home. The accused, a labourer in his 40s, was reportedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.

In a complaint lodged with the police, the victim’s daughter — who is also the wife of the accused — alleged that her husband sexually assaulted her mother and subsequently killed her inside the house.

Preliminary findings suggest that the woman may have been physically assaulted, and police suspect that the injuries led to her death. However, officials said that the exact cause of death will be determined following further investigation and post-mortem examination.
A case has been registered at the Kalwakurthy police station under relevant sections of the law. The accused has been taken into custody, and investigations are ongoing to establish the full sequence of events.
Police said additional forensic and medical evidence will be examined as part of the probe.
