Thodupuzha: A young man is in critical condition following a shooting incident that occurred during a dispute between relatives in Kadathy, Muvattupuzha. The altercation occurred at Naveen's residence when his cousin, Kishore, pulled out a gun and shot Naveen.

The shooting took place around midnight on Friday. Naveen sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen, with the bullet penetrating his body and exiting. He was swiftly transported to a private hospital in Ernakulam, where he underwent emergency surgery. His condition remains serious. The motive behind the altercation is yet to be determined. Police and forensic teams are on site gathering evidence.

Local residents transported Naveen to the hospital. The Muvattupuzha police have apprehended Kishore, who is now in custody. Neighbours have reported ongoing tensions between the families, including previous incidents of shooting. Kishore, who possesses both a rifle and a pistol, fired the weapon during this incident. It is noted that both firearms are licensed.

Kishore is affiliated with the Muttom Rifle Club. However, club representatives have confirmed that the ammunition used in the incident was not purchased from the club.
