Kochi: The Perumbavoor court has acquitted Monson Mavunkal in a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Monson, the second accused in the case, faced charges of concealing the crime and abetting his manager and make-up artist, Joshi, who has been found guilty. Joshi, the first accused, was convicted of sexually assaulting the daughter of one of Monson’s employees. The sentencing is expected to follow later.

The case centres around allegations that Monson’s employee’s daughter, a minor, was sexually assaulted by Joshi. Monson was accused of helping Joshi cover up the crime and assisting in the assault. This is not the first time Monson has faced legal troubles regarding this victim. The court had earlier sentenced Monson Mavunkal to life imprisonment in the case of molesting the same girl. Monson was the only defendant in this case.

The complaint alleged that Monson molested the employee's daughter, a minor, by promising her higher education. The incident related to the case was in 2019. He lured the girl by saying that he would teach her cosmetology along with her studies. He then brought her to Monson's Ernakulam home and tortured her repeatedly. The same girl was also molested by Monson's manager, Joshi.

The case against Monson came to light after he was implicated in an antique fraud case. The victim’s mother said she was initially afraid to report the crime due to Monson's influence.
