Kollam: A man who allegedly stabbed his wife to death in Punalur went live on Facebook moments later, describing the crime and blaming family disputes for the attack.

The victim, identified as Shalini, was killed at her house in Charuvila, Kalayanadu, around 6.30 am on Monday. Police said her husband, Isaac, reached the house and fatally stabbed her before starting a two-minute livestream.

In the video, Isaac is heard saying, “I have to say something unfortunate, my wife was killed,” while detailing the assault. He cites family issues, including his eldest son’s cancer diagnosis, financial disputes and allegations of infidelity, as reasons for the killing.

Isaac claims in the video that his wife ignored their children, lived a “luxurious life,” and mortgaged family gold without his knowledge. He also accused her of joining a political party against his wishes and being supported by party workers.

“I taught her to drive and bought a car … She later bought another car without telling me. She comes and goes at night and says she can live happily on her own,” Isaac says in the recording.

Police said preliminary investigations confirm ongoing marital disputes between the couple. The video has since been removed from Facebook, and further investigation is underway.
