Police said son Unnikrishnan has confessed to the crime.

Malappuram (Kerala): A 65-year-old man allegedly died after his son struck him on the head during an argument at Thekkan Annara in Tirur, Malappuram.
The deceased has been identified as Velayudhan, 65. His son, Unnikrishnan, has been taken into police custody in connection with the incident.
Police said Unnikrishnan has confessed to the crime.
Father allegedly struck with rice-serving ladle
According to police, an argument broke out between the father and son, during which Unnikrishnan allegedly hit Velayudhan on the head with a ladle used for serving rice.
Velayudhan sustained serious injuries in the incident and was initially taken to Tirur District Hospital for treatment.
He was later shifted to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital as his condition required further treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
Father and son were living together
Velayudhan and Unnikrishnan were living together in a shed covered with tarpaulin sheets.
Following the incident, Tirur police took Unnikrishnan into custody and registered a case. An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death is underway.
Velayudhan is survived by his wife, Radha, and children Jithesh, Jeena and Unnikrishnan.
