Palakkad, Kerala: A headmaster of a government Upper Primary (UP) school in Palakkad city has been booked on serious allegations of sexual abuse involving a minor student. The case, registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, has drawn attention due to the accused holding a senior position in a state-run educational institution.

The Palakkad South Police initiated proceedings after the child’s parents submitted a formal complaint. Officials confirmed that the allegations relate to an incident reported to have taken place last month.

According to the complaint, the student—currently in Class 7—had visited the school to collect new textbooks when the alleged incident occurred. It is stated that the headmaster took the child into a classroom and committed the offence. Police have not independently verified the allegations at this stage.

Police register POCSO case and begin inquiry

Police have registered the case under stringent provisions of the POCSO Act and have begun a detailed investigation into the circumstances surrounding the complaint. Officers are examining both the recent allegations and related claims of past misconduct raised by the complainant.
