Kochi: Police have nabbed another student in connection with the Kalamassery Government Polytechnic College drug case. The accused, identified as Anuraj, a Kollam native and third-year student, was taken into custody.
Earlier, three arrested students alleged that Anuraj handled financial transactions related to the drug operation. Their statements also pointed to migrant workers supplying the drugs, while a person identified as Suhail Bhai was responsible for transporting the ganja. A search is currently underway to locate him.
Hostel suspected as distribution hub
Police have launched a search for Anuraj the other day. Initially, he was not under suspicion, but police now believe that questioning him could provide crucial insights into the gang smuggling ganja into the hostel.
The officials also suspect that the Kalamassery Polytechnic College hostel was being used as a drug distribution centre. Reports indicate that four packets of ganja were brought in, but only two have been recovered. The investigation is now focused on tracing the missing packets.
