Vienna / Ljubljana: Tragedy struck the influencer world this week after Stefanie Pieper, a 31-year-old Austrian social-media personality known for her beauty, fashion, and lifestyle content, was found dead — her body discovered inside a suitcase buried in a forest in Slovenia, according to authorities.

Disappearance Turns Deadly

Pieper vanished after returning from a Christmas party on 23 November, when she messaged a friend saying she had reached home safely. A few moments later, she reportedly sent another message expressing fear that someone was lurking in the stairwell of her building.

Neighbours told police they heard shouting that night and claimed to have seen Pieper’s ex-boyfriend entering the building.

When Pieper failed to show up for a photoshoot the next day and could not be contacted, friends and family filed a missing-person report, launching an intense cross-border police investigation.

Confession and Arrest

The lead came when police in neighbouring Slovenia discovered a car belonging to Pieper’s former boyfriend on fire — parked outside a casino near the Austria-Slovenia border.

He was promptly arrested, and after questioning, he allegedly confessed to strangling Pieper during a heated argument. He admitted to placing her body inside a suitcase and dumping it in a remote forest — then led investigators to the exact location.

Wider Investigation Underway

Apart from the primary suspect, authorities also detained two of his relatives — reportedly his brother and stepfather — suspected of helping with the disposal or cover-up of the crime.

As of now, investigators have not publicly released a motive, and forensic teams are continuing to gather evidence.

Shock Waves Through Online Community

Pieper had built a modest but loyal following online, sharing makeup tutorials, fashion styling, and glimpses of everyday life — even featuring her Golden Retriever. She was more than a “beauty influencer”: friends describe her as a creative soul with a passion for music and art.

Her death — brutally violent and shocking in its finality — has triggered widespread grief and concern, shining a spotlight on the dangers faced by public figures. Voices from all over Europe have called for stricter safety measures, especially for women in the influencer industry.
