Alappuzha (Kerala): In a dramatic incident near the Kayamkulam railway station in Alappuzha district, a thief caused a stir after hiding in a drain to evade arrest. The thief, identified as Rajashekhan from Tamil Nadu, was initially spotted attempting a burglary in the area and fled when confronted by the police.
The police were unable to arrest him as he refused to leave the drain. When their attempts to lure him out proved unsuccessful, the fire brigade was called in. When the fire force team tried to break the slab covering the drain, Rajashekhan went further deep into the drain, thus forcing the officials to follow him. Firefighters, equipped with oxygen supplies, ventured into the drain and captured the thief.
Rajashekhan is now in police custody and faces charges, including attempted theft. Authorities are also investigating whether he is connected to other crimes.
