Palakkad: The leader of a gang involved in extorting lakhs of rupees by promising jobs in countries such as Canada and New Zealand has been arrested in Kerala.
Drishyan (33) alias Drishyan Connolly, was arrested by Palakkad South Police. Other members of the gang remain at large.
His arrest followed an investigation initiated based on a complaint from a resident of Alathur, who reported being defrauded of Rs. 3.5 lakhs. According to the police, Drishyan is a key figure in the network operating across Palakkad, Thrissur, Ernakulam, and Alappuzha districts. The gang has allegedly swindled between Rs. 5 to 10 lakhs from victims by running a fraudulent company under various names, deceiving more than 100 individuals.
The police are currently investigating the gang's operations, which involve fake interviews, bogus tests, and fraudulent contracts.
