A shocking murder in Hyderabad’s Chilkalguda area late on Thursday night has triggered panic after an engineering student was allegedly stabbed to death over a long-running love affair.

The victim, identified as Yuvan, was a resident of Jawaharnagar. According to police sources, he had been in a relationship with a young woman from Indiranagar in Chilkalguda for nearly four years.

Despite repeated objections from the woman’s family, the two allegedly continued to stay in contact.

Officials said the girl’s relatives had earlier warned Yuvan to stay away from her and allegedly threatened him against visiting the area again.

However, on Thursday night, Yuvan reportedly went to Indiranagar to meet the woman. What followed soon turned deadly.

According to preliminary findings, the woman's relatives allegedly intercepted Yuvan while he was in the locality.

A heated confrontation reportedly broke out before the accused attacked him with knives and stabbed him multiple times in public.

Locals rushed to the spot after hearing screams, but Yuvan had already collapsed in a pool of blood. He suffered severe injuries and died on the spot before medical help could arrive.

Police teams from Chilkalguda station reached the scene soon after receiving information about the attack. The area was cordoned off, and forensic teams were called in to collect evidence.

The body was later shifted to a mortuary for post-mortem examination. Police have registered a murder case and launched a manhunt to trace those involved in the killing.

Investigators are also questioning family members and locals to piece together the sequence of events leading to the brutal attack.

The gruesome murder has sent shockwaves through the locality, with residents expressing fear over the violent nature of the crime that unfolded in a crowded neighbourhood.
