Kochi: The police have declared the incident where a young man was stabbed in the stomach by a pair of scissors in Ernakulam's Paravur as a murder. The deceased has been identified as Sibin, a native of Pallipuram. During a verbal argument between Sibin and his wife, Ramani, she stabbed him in the stomach with scissors. The police arrested Ramani (38) in connection with the incident.

Sibin was stabbed in the stomach on June 2 at his rented house in Paravur. Ramani initially told her relatives that the scissors, thrown by Sibin against the wall, fell on his stomach, causing the injury.Sibin was first admitted to a private hospital in Paravur and later shifted to Thrissur Medical College. He relayed the same account given by Ramani to the doctors. 

Due to the severity of the wound, he sought treatment at Paravur Government Hospital, Ernakulam Medical College, Aluva Private Hospital, and Thrissur Medical College. Sibin died while undergoing treatment at Thrissur Medical College. His mother, suspicious of the incident, lodged a complaint with the police. After a detailed investigation, the police determined that Sibin's death was a murder.

Sibin and Ramani had a history of constant fighting. On the day of the incident, Ramani had a verbal argument with Sibin, who came home at noon. During the altercation, Sibin took the scissors in his hand and was about to attack Ramani. She entered the room and tried to close the door, but Sibin pushed it open. Ramani then snatched the scissors from his hand and stabbed him in the stomach to defend herself. A case of involuntary manslaughter has been registered against Ramani by Vadakkekara police.

The post-mortem report stated that the injury was not consistent with scissors falling on a person, leading to Ramani's arrest. The couple, who had a love marriage, have two school-going children. The accused was produced in court and remanded.
