Bengaluru: Kannada superstar Darshan has confessed to his involvement in the Renuka Swamy murder case, according to the remand copy submitted to the 24th ACMM court. Sources close to IANS reported on Wednesday that Darshan admitted to giving money to other accused individuals.

The remand copy was presented to the court to seek judicial custody for Karthik aka Kappe, the 15th accused, and Nikhil Nayak, the 17th accused.

According to the remand document, Darshan provided Rs 30 lakh to the accused, Pradosh, for managing police and lawyers and for paying those who disposed of the body. The police have confiscated the money from Pradosh's residence.

With the arrest of all 17 accused, the police have filed charges under various IPC sections, including 302 (murder), 201 (causing disappearance of evidence, giving false information), 120B (criminal conspiracy), 364 (kidnapping), 355 (using criminal force), 384 (extortion), 184 (unlawful assembly), 147 (rioting), and 148 read with 149 (guilty of rioting, being armed with a deadly weapon).

Doctors who performed the postmortem on Renuka Swamy's body reported that he died due to shock and hemorrhage from multiple blunt injuries. Viscera samples have been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory for further analysis.

The investigation revealed that Pradosh discarded the mobile phones of Renuka Swamy and the accused Raghavendra into a gutter. Raghavendra had kidnapped Renuka Swamy from Chitradurga and brought him to Bengaluru on Darshan's orders. Fire Force and Emergency Services personnel are currently working to recover the mobile phones.

Darshan’s wife, Vijayalaxmi, has provided the police with the shoes he wore on the day of the crime. Karthik aka Kappe (27) and Nikhil Nayak (21) have been remanded to judicial custody. IANS
