Coimbatore: In a late-night operation, Coimbatore police have apprehended 10 persons, including several Malayalis, who were allegedly plotting a robbery in the Kulathupalayam area of Pudur. Among those detained is Shamal (46), brother of Thadiyantavide Nazeer, who is infamous for his alleged involvement in the Bengaluru bomb blast case.

The arrested include Muhammad Ziauddin (40) from Kasaragod, Sunil (45) and Sameer (32) from Kanhangad, Abdul Halim (47) from Kannur, Salim Malik (25) and Parsad (25) from Tiruppur, Muhammad Yasir (18) from Kangeyam, Naufil Kasim Sheikh (29) from Karnataka, and Muhammad Anas (29) from Ukkadam, Coimbatore.

The Kuniamuthur police, led by Inspector Bhaskaran Raja, made the arrests after finding that the group gathered in Kulathupalayam. The police became suspicious when the group gave inconsistent answers during questioning. Based on these inconsistencies, the authorities detained them for further investigation.

One member of the group managed to flee and remains at large. Following their arrest, the group was presented before a Coimbatore court on Thursday, where they were remanded in custody.
