A man under the influence of ganja was caught and thrashed by locals after attempting to rape a differently-abled woman in Bengaluru.

Bengaluru: Police in Bengaluru have arrested a man who allegedly attempted to sexually assault a differently-abled woman while under the influence of ganja. The accused, identified as Vignesh alias Dadu, was caught and beaten by locals before being handed over to the police.
The incident took place on November 9 in the Adugodi area and came to light only recently after a video showing the public thrashing the accused went viral on social media.
According to police, the victim is a young woman with multiple disabilities; she is non-verbal, has limited control over her legs, and possesses the developmental capacity of a child.
The assault reportedly occurred when the woman was alone at home, as her family had gone to attend a wedding. Around 11 am, the accused allegedly entered the house and locked the door from inside. When the victim’s mother returned and found the door bolted, she forced it open, only to find her daughter in distress and the accused hiding in a corner.
The suspect fled the house but was quickly chased down and caught by locals, who assaulted him before handing him over to police officers.
The Adugodi Police have registered a case and taken the accused into custody for further investigation.
Authorities said the incident underscores a worrying trend of sexual crimes targeting vulnerable individuals in Karnataka. In recent months, multiple cases involving women and minors with disabilities have been reported across the state, including in Hassan and Raichur districts.
