Yuzvendra Chahal has broken his silence after ex-wife Dhanashree Verma’s bombshell claim that she caught him cheating two months into their marriage — calling the allegation baseless and the chapter “closed.”

New Delhi: Cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal has finally addressed his ex-wife Dhanashree Verma’s recent claim that she caught him cheating just two months into their marriage.
Speaking to Hindustan Times, the 35-year-old leg-spinner dismissed the accusation, saying he has “moved on” and doesn’t wish to revisit that chapter of his life.
“I am a sportsperson and I do not cheat. Agar koi two months mein hi cheat karta toh itna lamba relationship chalta kya?” Chahal said, adding that their marriage lasted four and a half years.
“If I were caught cheating in the second month, how would the relationship have continued that long?”
The cricketer said he’s at peace with how things ended and doesn’t want to be dragged into controversies. “For me, this chapter is over. I’ve moved forward with my life, and everyone else should too,” he said.
Taking a subtle dig at his former partner, Chahal added, “Abhi bhi kai log uss cheez ko pakde hue hain, abhi bhi unka ghar mere naam se chal raha hai. They can continue doing that. I’m not concerned or affected.”
He also stressed that truth doesn’t need defending. “Koi kuch bhi keh deta hai, and social media pe chal jata hai. 100 baatein chalti hain, but the truth is only one, and those who matter know it,” he said, concluding, “For me, the chapter is closed. I am focusing on my life and on my game.”
Dhanashree Verma, who is currently participating in the reality show ‘Rise And Fall’, recently made headlines after revealing during a conversation with actress Kubbra Sait that she “caught him in the second month” of marriage.
The couple had filed for divorce by mutual consent in February 2025 at the Bandra Family Court after nearly a year and a half of separation. Their divorce was finalised on March 20, 2025.
