Following the success of Hridayam and Varshangalkku Shesham, actor-director Vineeth Sreenivasan and producer Visakh Subramaniam have joined hands once again for a new film currently titled Production No. 3. The overseas theatrical distribution rights of the film have been acquired by Phars Films, one of the leading distribution companies in the Middle East.

The announcement was made by Visakh Subramaniam via social media, along with photos alongside Phars Films' Ahmed Golchin.

"Honoured and excited to announce that the Overseas Theatrical Rights of our upcoming film, 'Production No. 3', a co-production of Merryland Cinemas & Habit of Life, have been acquired by our dear Golchin sir of Phars Films. This will be our 4th collaboration after ‘Love Action Drama’, ‘Hridayam’, and ‘Varshangalkku Shesham’. Thank you Golchin sir for being our constant pillar. The kind of love and support you have shown to youngsters like us has been hugely encouraging and means a lot. It has been an honour for us at Merryland Cinemas to collaborate with you on all our projects until now. Forever grateful for your support & good wishes," wrote Visakh in his post.

Vineeth returns as producer; departure from family and romance

Vineeth announced through a Facebook post that the first look poster would be out on Wednesday, which marks 15 years of his debut film, Malarvaadi Arts Club. The film was released on June 16, 2010.

He stated how the film had given him many memorable experiences, and that his next directorial would veer away from his usual tropes. He ended the Facebook post with the promise of further updates.

Vineeth also responded to a fan comment, confirming that the film would not have any Chennai connection, unlike many of his earlier films.

The film is jointly produced by Visakh Subramaniam under Merryland Cinemas and Vineeth Sreenivasan's Habit of Life. This also marks Vineeth's return as a producer after films such as Anandam and Helen.

The film stars Noble Babu Thomas in the lead and is positioned as a thriller; a departure from the romance and family-driven narratives that Vineeth has become known for.

Merryland's legacy dates back to 1955 with C.I.D., regarded as Malayalam's first crime thriller. Seventy years later, the banner is set to revisit the genre with another ambitious thriller. Expectations are high as Vineeth steps into the thriller space.

A large-scale production, the film has been shot across international locations including the borders of Georgia, Russia, and Azerbaijan. Pre-production began in April 2024 after an extensive location-scouting phase. Additional schedules were filmed in Shimla and Chandigarh over five days, with a single-day shoot held in Kochi, Kerala.

The film is slated for a theatrical release on 25 September, around Navratri.
