Vijay's much-awaited swansong, Jana Nayagan, has kicked off its theatrical journey with a strong response in the UK after finally receiving clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

The film, directed by H Vinoth and co-starring Mamitha Baiju, Bobby Deol and Pooja Hegde, is scheduled to release on July 24.

UK distributor Ahimsa Entertainment announced that advance bookings had opened through Cineworld, claiming the film received an overwhelming response almost immediately. According to the distributor, thousands of tickets were sold within the first 60 minutes of bookings going live, calling the craze surrounding Vijay's final film 'unbelievable.'

The distributor also urged fans to turn the release into a historic event, describing Jana Nayagan as a farewell to the actor who has entertained audiences for decades and encouraging viewers to make the film's release a memorable celebration.

The film's road to release has been far from smooth. Originally slated to hit theatres in January, Jana Nayagan was delayed due to CBFC certification issues.

Following objections raised by an examining committee member, the film was referred to the revising committee and reportedly underwent several modifications over the next seven months before finally receiving clearance.

Production house KVN Productions confirmed on Saturday that the film has been awarded an A certificate by the CBFC, paving the way for its July 24 release.

The announcement sparked celebrations among Vijay fans, who have been waiting months for the film. Jana Nayagan marks Vijay's final outing as an actor before he shifts his full focus to politics following his elevation as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
