An old video of Shah Rukh Khan serenading Priyanka Chopra with a cheeky ‘marry me’ has resurfaced, and the internet can’t decide if it’s iconic or pure cringe.

Mumbai: Bollywood thrives on whispers, chemistry, and controversies that refuse to fade, and few rumoured equations have kept the gossip mills churning quite like that of Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra Jonas.
The duo, who shared sizzling screen space in ‘Don: The Chase Begins Again’ (2006) and ‘Don 2’ (2011), have long been at the centre of speculation about an off-screen closeness that neither ever confirmed. Yet, in Bollywood, silence often fuels the loudest stories.
Now, years later, an old video has added fresh fuel to that fire.
A throwback clip from the 2009 NDTV Indian of the Year Awards has gone viral yet again, and this time, it has got the internet talking louder than ever.
In the video, SRK, who was present at the ceremony, playfully serenades Chopra Jonas, who had joined via video call, by crooning ‘Let It Be’ by The Beatles. Watch the video below:
However, what caught everyone’s attention was his cheeky twist to the lyrics, “Marry me.”
Chopra Jonas’s reaction was a mix of surprise and awkward charm. Visibly taken aback, she responded, “Is sawaal ka jawaab gaane mein nahi, words mein bhi nahi hoga.”
Fast forward to 2026, and the clip is back in circulation, only this time the internet is not entirely amused. While some fans are calling it “playful nostalgia,” others are not holding back, branding it “cringe” and “second-hand embarrassment.”
And of course, this is not the first time their alleged equation has made headlines. Back in 2013, rumours of a secret nikah in Toronto created a full-blown frenzy.
Reports even claimed that Karan Johar confronted Chopra Jonas over the speculation, both privately and publicly. Soon after, her shifted focus to Hollywood, marking a new chapter in her career.
Interestingly, despite the undeniable on-screen chemistry and years of chatter, SRK and the actress have never collaborated again.
Cut to the present, SRK is busy prepping for ‘King’, where he will share screen space with daughter Suhana Khan, while Chopra Jonas is gearing up for SS Rajamouli’s ambitious ‘SSMB 29’ alongside Mahesh Babu.
However, clearly, some stories in Bollywood never really end; they just wait for the right moment to go viral again.
