Mumbai: Singer Mika Singh has once again found himself in the social media spotlight — this time for all the wrong reasons. The trouble began when he commented “Om Shanti” on a post about filmmaker Priyadarshan, apparently thinking the veteran director had passed away.

The mix-up

The confusion started when Aaj Tak shared a story in Hindi about Priyadarshan’s upcoming film Hera Pheri 3, calling it his “last project” and implying he was saying goodbye to Bollywood. Taking it literally, Mika offered condolences with the traditional phrase “Om Shanti”.

Social media roasts

Users were quick to notice the blunder. His comment sparked a wave of memes and jokes, ranging from “Paaji abhi shaam hua hai, itna jaldi paaji?” to “Oh zinda hain sir!” The internet had a field day, laughing at the irony of mourning someone very much alive.

Priyadarshan’s current work

Far from retiring immediately, Priyadarshan recently wrapped up Akshay Kumar’s Bhooth Bangla and still has Hera Pheri 3 and Haiwaan lined up. He has hinted at slowing down but hasn’t confirmed any immediate break from filmmaking.

Mika’s history of social media sparks

This is not Mika’s first online controversy. Weeks ago, his remarks on Sardaar Ji 3 were interpreted as a jab at actor Diljit Dosanjh. He had also urged creators to consider India-Pakistan relations while featuring cross-border artists, stirring debate yet again.
