The much-awaited Malayalam debut of Gautham Vasudev Menon, Dominic and The Ladies’ Purse, starring veteran actor Mammootty, hit theatres on Friday to a strong response from audiences.
Viewers were quick to appreciate the film's gripping investigative storyline and Mammootty’s charismatic portrayal of C.I. Dominic, an ex-cop. Many fans likened his character to Kerala’s very own Sherlock Holmes, praising both his sharp wit and the film’s attention to detail.
One user wrote, “It’s a gripping investigation drama with a GVM vibe. Mammootty shines in the lead, and the Sherlock Holmes nods are a nice touch. The slower pace might not work for everyone, but I liked the realistic approach.”
Others applauded the chemistry between Mammootty and Gokul Suresh, describing it as a "Sherlock-Watson-like combo." A fan tweeted, “The movie is a must-watch! Mammootty's hilarious one-liners, a mind-blowing climax twist, and the pairing with Gokul Suresh make this mystery-comedy an absolute delight. #GVM stellar Malayalam debut!”
The film is being produced under the Mammootty Kampany banner, making it its sixth production. The movie is already drawing attention for its blend of comedy and thriller elements.
Mammootty leads the cast alongside Gokul Suresh, with other notable performances from Lena, Siddique, Viji Venkatesh, Vijay Babu, Vineeth, Sushmitha Bhatt, Shine Tom Chacko, and Wafa Khatheeja.
Written by Dr Suraj Rajan and Dr Neeraj Rajan, the film promises an exciting mix of suspense and humour, with Mammootty and Gokul Suresh playing detectives at the centre of the plot.
