Suriya reveals Nazriya Nazim turned down three earlier film offers before joining Jithu Madhavan's 'Scene'. The actor also shares why he admired her choices.

Actor Suriya has revealed that his upcoming film 'Scene' marks the end of a long wait to collaborate with Nazriya Nazim. The actor disclosed that he had approached her for three of his earlier projects, but she turned down all the offers before finally agreeing to work with him in director Jithu Madhavan's film.
Speaking at a promotional event in Hyderabad, Suriya spoke about his long-standing wish to share screen space with Nazriya. He also expressed admiration for the actor's self-assurance and her approach to choosing films, saying he respected the way she made decisions about her career.
Suriya on Nazriya rejecting his three film offers
Recalling his attempts to cast Nazriya in his earlier films, Suriya said their collaboration took several years to materialise. He revealed that the actor had declined three opportunities before accepting the offer for 'Scene'.
"I have always wanted to work with Nazriya. We had asked her to act in three of my films earlier, but she rejected them. It was only on the fourth attempt that she agreed," he said.
Suriya further pointed out that Nazriya had turned down several opportunities in Tamil cinema over the past 12 years. However, he said he admired her ability to stand by her choices rather than viewing the rejected offers as missed opportunities. He particularly appreciated the confidence with which she approached decisions about her professional life.
Nazriya Nazim on returning to Tamil cinema after 12 years
For Nazriya, 'Scene' is a significant project as it brings her back to Tamil cinema after a gap of nearly 12 years. Following her marriage to actor Fahadh Faasil, she largely stayed away from Tamil-language projects, although she continued to be active in Malayalam cinema.
Her last Tamil theatrical release was Anis' romantic drama 'Thirumanam Enum Nikkah', which hit screens in 2014.
Speaking about her decision to sign 'Scene', Nazriya said the opportunity to work with Suriya was a major reason behind her return. She also described the collaboration as a long-held dream and expressed gratitude to the director and the film's team.
"The reason I agreed to return to Tamil cinema after 12 years was that this was a Suriya sir film. Honestly, it is a dream come true. I had missed out on opportunities once or twice earlier for various reasons. I am very happy that this is finally the first film bringing the two of us together," she said.
'Scene' release date and cast
Directed by Jithu Madhavan, 'Scene' is scheduled to release in theatres on November 6, coinciding with the Diwali festive season.
The film features Suriya and Nazriya Nazim in lead roles, with Naslen also part of the cast. The project marks Jithu Madhavan's latest directorial venture following the success of his Malayalam films 'Romancham' and 'Aavesham'.
