A new character glimpse from the upcoming pan-Indian film ‘Slum Dog: 33 Temple Road’, starring Tamil actor Vijay Sethupathi, has introduced Zarina Wahab as Zubeidaa, the mother of Sethupathi’s character. Written and directed by Puri Jagannadh, the film has Samyuktha as its female lead.

The newly released footage focuses on an emotional episode from Zubeidaa’s life. It shows her reaching a railway station with the intention of ending her life. However, unable to endure her hunger, she eventually finds herself asking others for food. The sequence offers a glimpse into a woman’s struggle to survive while dealing with helplessness, self-respect and the emotional burden of motherhood.

Wahab’s performance is at the heart of the glimpse, with the actor portraying Zubeidaa’s pain and vulnerability. Vijay Sethupathi also appears in the footage, hinting at the emotional dimension of his character’s relationship with her. The glimpse suggests that the film will combine its action and mass elements with moments driven by emotion.

The makers had previously introduced Tabu’s character Gauri Hegde through a separate glimpse. She plays an Income Tax Deputy Commissioner portrayed as a bold and confident officer who takes ruthless action against criminals. Sethupathi was earlier seen in the film’s teaser in a stylish mass avatar, including a look in which he appears to be visually impaired.

Set against the lives of people living in slums, ‘Slum Dog: 33 Temple Road’ brings together action, emotion, comedy and music. Kannada actor Duniya Vijay Kumar has a key role in the film, while Brahmaji and VTV Ganesh are also part of the cast.

Puri Jagannadh and Charmy Kaur are producing the film under the banner of Puri Connects, with JB Narayana Rao Kondrolla backing it under JB Motion Pictures. Sam K Naidu is the cinematographer, while Harshavardhan Rameshwar has composed the music.

‘Slum Dog: 33 Temple Road’ is set to release in theatres as a pan-Indian film in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi.
