Shruti, the elder daughter of Kamal Haasan, began her birthday message on a playful note. She said she would spare her followers a long explanation of why she loved her father, while also admitting that she had not always followed his advice.

"Happy birthday Appa dearest! I think you’ll appreciate very much that I don’t wax eloquent on here as to why I love you the most but I’ve not always been the best at taking your advice (smiley face)," she wrote.

She then recalled her birthday conversation with him earlier in the day. Even during their call, Kamal's enthusiasm for films was evident, as he recommended a movie he had recently watched and went on to explain what he loved about it.

For Shruti, this was a reminder of how his passion for cinema has remained unchanged over the years. She noted that spending decades in the world of films had done little to dull his curiosity or excitement.

"Years and years in your favourite playground of cinema haven’t jaded, not even a little bit the love and with which you live this magical life and the gifts you give us through your craft," she wrote.

The actress also reflected on the childlike curiosity that she believes her father has held on to throughout his life. Referring to the little boy who first discovered cinema on his first film set, she said that same excitement and eagerness to explore had stayed with him.

"You are just the rarest of the rare Appa, the most glorious uncut diamond sparkling in the way only you can. Love you to the moon and back," she added.

Kamal Haasan's birthday brings 'Sandiyar' announcement

Meanwhile, birthday wishes have been pouring in for Kamal Haasan from across the film industry.

Adding to the celebrations, his production house, Raaj Kamal Films International, marked the occasion with a special update on his upcoming film. The makers released two new stills from the project, which has now been titled 'Sandiyar'.

The production house had announced the title on its X account on Friday, ahead of Kamal Haasan's birthday on Saturday. It also unveiled a poster featuring the actor in an intense avatar. In the image, Kamal is seen holding a revolver and leaning through the window of a car. Blood marks on the vehicle's door add to the gritty look, hinting at a possible action thriller.

The film will have music composed by Anirudh Ravichander. Kamal Haasan and R Mahendran will produce the project, with S Disney coming on board as co-producer.
