Mumbai: Neena Gupta, along with Panchayat writer Chandan Kumar, has teased a major election-related twist in the upcoming Season 5 of the beloved rural comedy-drama.
In an exclusive chat with IANS held before the release of Season 4, the duo playfully hinted at key plot points fans can look forward to. Asked about burning questions—like who will win the village elections, the fate of Sachiv ji and Rinky ji’s romance, and whether Sachiv ji will finally clear his exam—Chandan Kumar responded, “There are three questions, and one more is, who shot Pradhan Ji? You’ll get many answers, some straightforward and some with twists. I think that will make Season 4 interesting.”
During the conversation, Neena Gupta burst out laughing when IANS suggested that Manju Devi might win the election but could face unexpected hurdles, like a counting error leading to an appeal. Jokingly, Gupta replied, “The script has been leaked! Get ready for the next season — the script has already leaked!”
On July 7, Prime Video made it official by announcing Panchayat Season 5 on social media. The first-look poster reintroduced fans to the beloved characters from Phulera, featuring Jitendra Kumar, Raghubir Yadav, Ashok Pathak, and Neena Gupta.
Sharing the update on Instagram, the makers wrote: “Hi 5 Phulera wapas aane ki taiyyaari shuru kar lijiye. #PanchayatOnPrime, New Season, Coming Soon.”
With hints of political intrigue, love, and signature humour, fans can look forward to yet another memorable trip to Phulera very soon.
