Alia Bhatt and Sharvari's action-packed ‘Alpha’ is reportedly preparing for its digital debut. Here's everything you need to know.

Alia Bhatt and Sharvari's ‘Alpha’ could soon make its way to streaming after its theatrical release earlier this year. The YRF Spy Universe action thriller, which hit cinemas on July 3, 2026, is reportedly being lined up for an OTT premiere in the coming days.
According to a report by 123Telugu, ‘Alpha’ is expected to begin streaming on Netflix from August 28. The report claims that the film will initially be available in Hindi. However, Netflix and Yash Raj Films have not officially announced the digital premiere date or confirmed the streaming details at the time of writing.
Alpha OTT release date and platform
If the reported date is accurate, ‘Alpha’ will arrive on Netflix on August 28, less than two months after its theatrical debut.
The initial streaming release is reportedly planned in Hindi. There is currently no confirmed information on when Telugu, Tamil or other dubbed versions will be added to the platform.
Viewers should note that the reported August 28 date has not yet been officially confirmed by either Netflix or Yash Raj Films.
What is ‘Alpha’ about?
Directed by Shiv Rawail, ‘Alpha’ puts two female spies at the centre of the YRF Spy Universe for the first time. Alia Bhatt plays Sita, a R&AW operative whose abilities and training lead her towards becoming an Alpha soldier.
Sharvari portrays Durga, another operative who becomes connected to Sita during a dangerous mission. Their journey brings them into conflict with Colonel Fateh Singh Lakhawat, played by Bobby Deol.
The character's experiments with the Alpha serum form a key part of the film's central conflict, combining elements of espionage, action and revenge.
‘Alpha’ cast and YRF Spy Universe connections
Alongside Alia and Sharvari, the film features Anil Kapoor as R&AW chief Vikrant Kaul. Hrithik Roshan also appears as Major Kabir Dhaliwal in a cameo, further linking the film to the wider spy universe.
‘Alpha’ is the seventh instalment in the franchise, which began with Salman Khan's ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ in 2012. The universe subsequently expanded through ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’, ‘War’, ‘Pathaan’, ‘Tiger 3’ and ‘War 2’.
The franchise has brought together major spy characters played by Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan and Shah Rukh Khan, with ‘Alpha’ adding Alia and Sharvari's characters to the interconnected world.
Alpha's theatrical performance
Despite being positioned as a major expansion of the YRF Spy Universe, ‘Alpha’ had a relatively restrained theatrical run.
According to Sacnilk, the film collected around Rs 99.10 crore worldwide. Its reported worldwide total included approximately Rs 70.05 crore from India and Rs 29.05 crore from overseas markets. The film's India net collection was reported at around Rs 58.86 crore.
Will Alia Bhatt and Sharvari return?
The ending of ‘Alpha’ reportedly leaves the door open for Sita and Durga to have further adventures within the YRF Spy Universe.
There have also been reports that Alia and Sharvari could appear in upcoming films connected to the franchise. However, no such future appearances have been officially confirmed so far.
