"I like to do films that I ‘can sit and watch’ with my family,” the actor said.

Actor Shane Nigam is all set to enthrall audiences with his upcoming release Balti, which will hit theatres this Onam. Anticipation builds as the release date approaches, with fans lapping up every single update about the movie with much enthusiasm.
Like a cherry on top, South Indian music sensation Sai Abhyankkar is composing the music for this Unni Sivalingam directorial. A recent promo video for the film, in which Mohanlal can be seen welcoming the young musician on board, has since gone viral.
While there is already a great deal of buzz surrounding the film, what has really kept fans talking is the lead actor’s candid revelations during a recent conversation with The New Indian Express.
In the interview, Shane discussed myriad aspects of his eventful and evolving career in the Malayalam film industry.
To a particular question pertaining to lip locks and onscreen intimacy, the actor did not shy away from sharing his opinion.
“See, if the situation—the story or the script—demands it, maybe I would agree to a lip lock. But my whole point is that you don't actually need such a scene to convey intimacy,” Shane said.
“Unless it can’t be done without it, I wouldn’t prefer intimate scenes in my films. You may consider me a bit 'old school', but I like to do films that I ‘can sit and watch’ with my family,” the actor told The New Indian Express.
He shrugged off fears that such decisions would limit him as an actor. Speaking at length in the same conversation, Shane Nigam also talked about his idea of punctuality and work ethic, drawing from his experience in the industry so far.
While he denied being targeted, Shane also reflected on his choice of roles—including the gray-shaded character he played in the much-debated and discussed Ishq, released in 2019 and directed by Anuraj Manohar—adding further layers to the conversation.
Shane’s responses served as a reflection of the thoughts of a budding actor and the challenges and crossroads that his craft would inevitably place him in, as he continues striving to gain a strong foothold in the artistic world of cinema.
