Kochi: Actor Baburaj has said that the first agenda of the new governing committee of the ‘AMMA’ association should be to investigate the case against Shwetha Menon. Baburaj also stated that if it is proven he had any role in the case, he would quit acting. He was speaking after casting his vote in the ongoing ‘AMMA’ election in Kochi.

“Shwetha Menon is a close friend of mine. The new governing committee’s first agenda should be to investigate the case against her and find out who was behind such a complaint. If it is proven that I had any part in the complaint, I will quit acting,” Baburaj said.

He added that he withdrew his nomination because he felt it was not right to contest when allegations were raised against him. “I also wish for women to lead the AMMA organisation,” he said.

“Internal matters of the organisation should be discussed within the organisation. I will raise what needs to be said in the ‘AMMA’ general body. My silence is not because I have nothing to say about the allegations against me. People will believe many things if they hear — and that is what some have spread. I will always stand with ‘AMMA’. The good work started by ‘AMMA’ will continue,” the actor added.

“Whoever wins, I will stand with them. When we moved forward with the ad hoc committee, there were no allegations. The allegations came up only afterwards. Through the election, democracy in ‘AMMA’ has grown stronger,” Baburaj stted.
