Actor Mammootty expressed his admiration for literary stalwart MT Vasudevan Nair at the trailer launch of ‘Manorathangal’, an anthology movie based on the latter's stories. The veteran actor spoke of the enduring relevance of the legendary writer, highlighting MT’s profound understanding of current affairs, politics, literature, and economics. Mammootty made these remarks at the event in Kochi, which coincided with MT’s 91st birthday on July 15.

"We rarely witness anthology films of such calibre in Malayalam cinema that offer deep insights into MT's literary genius. Personally, I share a close bond with MT. What continues to astonish me is his youthful spirit... He delves into books in various languages from across the globe," Mammootty said.

Scheduled for release on Onam via the Zee5 OTT platform, the series showcases the contradictions of human behaviour and emphasises the human capacity for empathy and primal instincts. 

Presented by the legendary actor Kamal Haasan, this anthology begins with 'Olavum Theeravum', directed by Priyadarshan and starring Mohanlal, followed by Ranjith's 'Kadugannawa Oru Yathrakkurippu' featuring Mammootty. Other segments include Priyadarshan's 'Shilalikhitham' with Biju Menon, Shanthi Krishna, and Joy Mathew, Shyama Prasad's 'Kazhcha' starring Parvathy Thiruvoth and Harish Uthaman, and Mahesh Narayanan's 'Sherlock' with Fahad Fazil and Nadiya Moidu.

Madhu and Asif Ali are playing the lead roles in 'Vilpana', directed by Aswathi Nair.  'Swargam Thurakkunna Samayam', directed by Jayaraj Nair, features an ensemble cast including Kailash, Indrans, Nedumudi Venu, Ranji Panicker, and Surabhi Lakshmi. Siddique, Ishith Yamini, and Naseer are playing the lead roles in ‘Abhayam Thedi Veendum’, directed by Santhosh Sivan.
