Actor Vincy Aloshious has spoken out following her complaint to AMMA against a fellow actor who allegedly misbehaved with her on a film set while under the influence of alcohol. Vincy expressed surprise over how details of her complaint became public, especially since she had clearly requested that neither the actor’s name nor the film’s title be disclosed.
"I don’t know how the complaint got leaked. I had clearly stated in the complaint that the actor’s name and the film’s title should not be made public. One person’s mistake should not affect an entire film or its release. The success or failure of the projects he has worked on should not suffer. That is why I refrained from naming him," Vincy said.
She added, "I don’t know how this got leaked. When the issue first occurred, I was alone. But later, many people came forward in support. All the film industry organisations reached out and informed me about the legal procedures."
"The film in question had an Internal Complaints Committee. When the incident happened on set, an Internal Committee member contacted me and asked if I wanted to file a complaint. At that time, the film’s shoot was nearing completion, so I chose not to lodge a complaint then. I anticipated potential complications for the film. That’s why I made a personal decision to stay silent. However, I later decided not to work in films involving people who use drugs," she said.
"I am extremely grateful for all the support I’ve received. AMMA, FEFKA, WCC and the Producers Association—all these organisations supported me. The ICC’s monitoring committee on the film set also reached out."
"I have no intention of naming the individual or exposing him publicly. My only demand is to be able to work on film sets with dignity. Every workplace has a designated smoking area. But on film sets, there is no such system. Smoking in front of everyone is not appropriate. Such things can be done during breaks."
"What I want to emphasise is that the actor should not be denied work. He is talented. I hope he corrects his mistake and moves forward. Everyone deserves a chance to rectify their errors."
"Everyone else associated with that film behaved respectfully. When I filed the complaint, the director gave the actor a warning. Another actress who worked with me in the film was more troubled by his behaviour than me. She was so distressed that she left the set. I had confronted him verbally at the time, but new actors, especially women, may not always have the courage to speak up in such situations."
"I believe the organisations concerned will take action against him. I too am waiting to see what kind of action will be taken," Vincy concluded.
