Bollywood actor Vijay Varma is all set to be seen headlining a gripping series 'IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack'.

The project, which also stars Naseeruddin Shah, Pankaj Kapur, Vijay Varma, Arvind Swamy, Dia Mirza, Patralekhaa, Amrita Puri, Anupam Tripathi, Kumud Mishra and Manoj Pahwa, will be released on Netflix on August 29. On Saturday, the makers unveiled the teaser.

The six-episode series based on real events plunges viewers into the harrowing experience of passengers and crew trapped at 30,000 feet during a hijacking. The story follows a determined team in India racing against time to understand the hijackers' demands and secure the safe return of everyone on board.

The real-life hijacking of IC-814 occurred on December 24, 1999. Five terrorists took over the plane shortly after it left Kathmandu, holding 180 passengers hostage for seven days. The plane traveled from Kathmandu to Amritsar, then Lahore, Dubai, and finally to Taliban-controlled Kandahar, where the hostages were freed on December 31, 1999.

In addition to ‘IC 814', Vijay Varma will star in the crime drama series ‘Matka King’, set in 1960s Mumbai. The series follows a cotton trader who creates a new gambling game called 'Matka,' transforming the city's gambling scene.

The cast includes Kritika Kamra, Sai Tamhankar, Gulshan Grover, and Siddharth Jadhav.
