Vijay Sethupathi has once again won hearts, proving he’s a superstar both on and off the screen. The acclaimed actor has made a generous donation of Rs 1.3 crore to support the construction of houses for the hardworking members of the South Indian Movie Workers Union. His contribution is set to improve the living conditions of the technicians and daily wage workers who play a crucial role in the film industry.

Sethupathi has extended his support to Chennai’s Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI), a major organisation representing around 25,000 members across 23 different film and television industry trades.

Trade analyst Ramesh Bala took to X to share the big news, writing, “Makkal Selvan @VijaySethuOffl has donated ₹ 1.30 Crs to #FEFSI Movie workers union to build houses..The apartment tower will be called ‘Vijay Sethupathi Towers.’”

His generosity follows Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister and actor Udhayanidhi Stalin’s recent initiative, in which he officially handed over a renewed Government Order (GO) leasing land to key industry bodies. This includes FEFSI, the Tamil Film Producers Council, the South Indian Artistes’ Association, and the Tamil Nadu Small Screen Artistes Association. The move is expected to significantly benefit the industry’s backbone—the crew members who make the magic happen behind the scenes.

A stellar year in cinema

Vijay Sethupathi has had a phenomenal 2024, lighting up the silver screen with three major hits. He kicked off the year with Sriram Raghavan’s bilingual thriller 'Merry Christmas', where he starred alongside Katrina Kaif. His landmark 50th film, 'Maharaja', directed by Nithilan Saminathan and co-starring Anurag Kashyap, turned into a massive box office success. He wrapped up the year with Vetrimaaran’s 'Viduthalai' Part 2, sharing the screen with Manju Warrier.

On the work front Sethupathi is all set for an action-packed 2025 with a thrilling lineup of films. Fans can look forward to 'Gandhi Talks', 'Ace', and 'Train'. 'Gandhi Talks', an experimental silent film, is still awaiting a release date, while 'Ace' and 'Train' are expected to hit theatres later this year.
