Cinema halls across South India turned into celebration venues after videos surfaced online showing a revised title card for Vijay’s upcoming film Jana Nayagan, reflecting his recent political success.

Actor-turned-politician Vijay made a landmark entry into politics with his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), emerging as the single-largest party in the 234-member Tamil Nadu Assembly with 108 seats.

Amid the buzz, clips circulating on social media platform X showed a new title card in the film reading: “Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu C. Joseph Vijay in Jana Nayagan.” The reveal triggered enthusiastic reactions from audiences, with fans cheering, dancing and celebrating inside theatres.

Several users described the moment as unprecedented, with some calling it the first time an actor has received a Chief Minister title card on screen. However, it remains unclear where exactly this version of the film was screened.

The apparent inclusion of the Chief Minister reference is widely seen as a nod to public sentiment. Following Vijay’s electoral success, fans had been urging the filmmakers to acknowledge his new political position within the film.

Reacting to the victory, Venkat K Narayana of KVN Productions congratulated Vijay on social media, describing his win as historic and calling it a “revolution” that would resonate for generations.

Meanwhile, the film’s release continues to face delays. Jana Nayagan, widely billed as Vijay’s final film, was initially slated for release on 9 January, with a possible February release also failing to materialise.

Reports suggest the film contains political elements, prompting the Censor Board to refer it to the Election Commission after the Model Code of Conduct came into force on 15 March.

Directed by H Vinoth and produced by KVN Productions, the film also stars Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol and Mamitha Baiju.
