Chennai: Veteran singer Vani Jairam, who adorned over 19 languages with her magical voice passed away on Saturday. She was 77.
The singer breathed her last at her residence in Chennai on Saturday. She was born in Tamil Nadu's Vellore in 1945. Her real name was Kalaivani.
She made her debut in Malayalam film industry by singing for the movie ‘Swapnam’.
Vani Jairam was chosen for Padma Bhushan Award the last week. She received the National Award for Best Playback Singer Female thrice.
