Veteran actress Leena Antony, at 75, completes her Higher Secondary Equivalency, inspiring all with her dedication to education

Cherthala: Veteran actress Leena Antony is proving that age is no barrier to learning. At 75, she recently sat for the Higher Secondary Equivalency Examination, continuing a remarkable academic journey she resumed after more than six decades.
Leena had left school at the age of 13 following the death of her father, stepping into the world of theatre at a young age. She later married actor K L Antony and entered the film industry much later in life, earning acclaim for her mother character in the film Maheshinte Prathikaram. She went on to appear in a handful of other films.
It was after her husband's passing that Leena chose to resume her education in solitude, a journey she began four years ago. In 2022, she successfully passed the 10th standard equivalency examination. Encouraged by that success, she enrolled in the Higher Secondary Equivalency programme and continued studying whenever possible at Thrichattukulam NSS Higher Secondary School.
Remarkably, she studied alongside many of the same peers with whom she had completed her 10th standard equivalency. The classes were led by Centre Coordinator K K Ramani, who supported Leena through her academic pursuits.
