Tom Cruise is stepping into unfamiliar territory with ‘Digger’, his upcoming film directed by Academy Award winner Alejandro G Iñárritu. The makers unveiled the film's first poster and trailer on Monday, offering a look at Cruise in a role unlike anything he has played before.

The film is scheduled to arrive in cinemas across India on October 2, with Warner Bros. Pictures handling distribution.

In ‘Digger’, Cruise stars as Digger Rockwell, a wealthy oil tycoon whose company's actions are believed to have triggered an environmental disaster with devastating global consequences.

As the crisis grows and the threat of nuclear conflict looms, Rockwell attempts to convince the world that he is the only person capable of stopping the catastrophe before it is too late.

The newly released trailer hints at a story packed with political tension, dark humour and large-scale destruction. The makers have described the film as "a comedy of catastrophic proportions."

The film has been shot entirely on VistaVision, a format known for its large-scale cinematic visuals.

‘Digger’ is a collaboration between Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures.

Alongside Tom Cruise, the film features an ensemble cast including Riz Ahmed, John Goodman, Sandra Hüller, Michael Stuhlbarg, Jesse Plemons, Robert John Burke, Emma D'Arcy, Burn Gorman and Sophie Wilde.
