Actor Tini Tom has issued a public apology following backlash over a controversial comment he made about legendary actor Prem Nazir. In a video shared on Facebook, the actor clarified that he was merely repeating something he had heard from a senior figure in the industry and insisted he had no intention of defaming the late actor.

"I am just one among the countless admirers of Nazir Sir. Where does he stand, and where do I stand? I am not someone who would speak ill of such a great star," he said. "What was circulated was only a small excerpt from a larger interview. I haven’t even met Nazir Sir in person."

Tini went on to explain that he was recounting a story told to him by a senior colleague. "Now that person is washing his hands of it. It’s not as if I fabricated the story. It was never meant to tarnish his image. If I have made a mistake, I am ready to offer an unconditional apology. I am even willing to fall at the feet of such a great legend," he added.

The controversy stemmed from a comment allegedly made by Tini, claiming that after his film career declined, Prem Nazir would dress in makeup daily and visit the homes of fellow actors Adoor Bhasi and Bahadur to cry. He was also alleged to have said that Nazir passed away with a heavy heart.

The remarks triggered widespread criticism, with figures such as director MA Nishad and actress Bhagyalakshmi strongly condemning Tini’s statements.
